About This Project
Understanding the mission and values behind these financial safety resources.
Our Mission
Financial abuse is one of the most common and least discussed forms of domestic violence. It occurs in 99% of domestic violence cases and is a primary reason survivors feel trapped in abusive relationships. By controlling access to money and resources, abusers create a system of dependency that makes leaving feel impossible.
We believe that every survivor deserves access to practical, trauma-informed financial guidance to help them escape abusive situations and rebuild their lives. These guides are designed to meet you where you are—whether you're still in an abusive relationship, planning to leave, or rebuilding after separation.
Why These Four Guides?
Each guide addresses a critical stage of the financial safety journey:
Building Your Secret Escape Fund
For those who are still in an abusive relationship and need to quietly save money for their escape.
Detecting and Documenting Financial Abuse
For those who need to recognize financial abuse and safely document evidence for legal protection.
Your Financial Safety Plan
For those preparing to leave and needing to protect their identity, credit, and assets.
Rebuilding Your Financial Life
For those who have left and are rebuilding their financial independence and stability.
Trauma-Informed Design
This website is designed with trauma-informed principles at its core. Every element—from the calming color palette to the prominent Quick Exit button—has been thoughtfully created to prioritize your safety and emotional well-being.
We understand that survivors may be in unsafe environments where their browsing is monitored. That's why we've made it easy to quickly leave this site if needed, and we encourage you to clear your browser history after visiting.
